Santina Urciullo Obituary

Santina (Pollicita) Urciullo, 89 years old, wife of Sebastiano Urciullo of Berlin, Connecticut passed away on April 14, 2024 after brief illness. Santina was born in 1935 in Buenos Aires, Argentina to her late parents Vincenzo and Guisephina Pollicita. Santina was raised in Solarino, Sicily surrounded by family; Solarino is where she considered her home town and where she and Sebastiano married in 1955. Santina worked very hard throughout her lifetime and always instilled the importance of family and connection into anyone she encountered. Santina and her late sister, Maria (Pollicita) Liistro traveled from Sicily to the United States back in 1953. Sebastiano joined her in New Britain, CT where they made their first home. Santina was a seamstress retiring from Magson’s Uniform in Berlin, CT.

Santina was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend and extended family to many. Santina was an incredibly strong and resilient woman with a great sense of humor. She will be most remembered for her care for others and for her love of cooking in which she always shared the delicious fruits of her labor with all. Her homes were always filled with love, comfort and Italian traditions that remained constant for anyone who came through her doors. You could always count on great food, storytelling and conversation over a cup of espresso and of course homemade sweets and some ice cream. Santina also loved gardening, traveling, knitting, crocheting, spending time at the beach and most importantly enjoying quality time spent with family and friends. She was an avid member of the St. Paul’s Ladies Guild and very involved in the Berlin community. Santina and Sebastiano took great pride and joy in watching their family grow and being the constant support for them. Santina and Sebastiano were the epitome of true love, they exemplified the bond of marriage and commitment for over 69 years.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her brother Santino Pollicita and his wife Gail. Her three children; daughter Santina (Sandy) Gineo and two sons Francesco (Frank) Urciullo and Sebastian (Sebby) Urciullo. Her grandchildren; Jonathan Gineo, his wife Chantel Gineo, Danielle Urciullo, Nicole Garcarz and her husband Michael Garcarz, Kimberly Urciullo, Frank Jr. (Frankie) Voisine and Kaitlyn Urciullo. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Anaiya, Carter, Gianna, Luca, Jordan and Brynlee. Santina was also an aunt to many, she had many deep-rooted friendships and neighbors whom the family is very grateful for. Santina was truly a remarkable woman, her love, light and laughter were shared with many and she will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched.
